The research aims to maintain and enhance the functional land use model developed by LBTU, focusing on updating its equations, coefficients, and spatial data. The project seeks to incorporate land use projections at the field level and integrate spatial information from traditional bioresource processing sectors, as well as wind and solar energy production. Additionally, organic soil data obtained through the Norwegian Financial Instrument project, “Improving Sustainable Soil Resource Management in Agriculture (E2SOILAGRI),” will be incorporated into the model.
The enhanced model will serve as a tool for policymaking, enabling spatial simulations of diverse land use scenarios and their environmental and socio-economic impacts.
The project will produce detailed annual reports documenting the advancements and improvements to the functional land use model, ensuring its ongoing relevance and effectiveness in promoting sustainable land management and informed policy development.
