Project description

The study aims to assess the impact of diversifying supermarket opening hours on the food supply chain. It can be used by policymakers when developing food retail policy.

The tasks of this study are to assess the impact of restrictions on food supermarket opening hours on:

  • the retail sector, paying special attention to potential changes in the market share of retailers;
  • small and medium-sized agricultural and food producers, including the possibilities of selling their products in the retail system during certain periods, as well as assessing whether such changes would promote the development of short food supply chains;
  • consumer shopping habits and their impact on creating advantages for small and medium-sized agricultural and food producers in the sale of products.
