The project aims to identify the bio-region formation paradigm in the context of the sustainability and viability of rural areas and developing a conceptual strategy for the development of bio-regions in Latvia in order to promote the implementation of basic EU initiatives for the development of a balanced, sustainable and climate-neutral Europe. The project will create theoretical and methodological knowledge that makes a practical contribution to achieving sustainability and green goals. To achieve the aim of the project project tasks are associated with work packages: WP1 Theoretical and conceptual framework for bio-regions. WP2 Identification of bio-regions in Latvia. WP3 Identification of criteria for formation and functioning of bio-regions. WP4 Development of a conceptual strategy for development of bio-regions. WP5 Proposals for the legal and institutional frameworks. WP6 Communication and dissemination of the research results.
