Project description

The use of renewable resources is an essential part of the bioeconomy development to achieve the climate and economic transformation goals defined by the EU and Latvia. Algae are washed out annually on the Baltic coast. Their non-harvesting leads to negative environmental impacts (eutrophication, unpleasant odor and negative effects on habitats), while not being used as a resource for agricultural production, without obtaining potential economic benefits.

The study will conduct BETA tests for an algal biostimulant which, it is necessary to: create a prototype; perform the evaluation of chemical analyzes, the agrochemical composition, and determine its compliance with the biostimulant requirements. The study will also provide the evaluation of the impact of the algae biostimulant prototype on crops through practical trials and the generation of data on the effects on crop growth, development and yield, thus ensuring an extensive evaluation of the prototype performance and its potential economic advantages.
