Prior to the Covid pandemic, there were existing inequalities in the tourism sector between Latvia's regions and the Riga region. During the Covid pandemic the severe reduction of tourism in regions has had long-lasting effects on the industry. Tourism promotion has the potential to foster regional development. This study explores the tourism sector's role in regional progress, focusing on its economic, social, and environmental impacts.
Research aim: To analyse the factors influencing the growth of tourism that promotes the development of regions in Latvia
Research tasks:
- To study the theoretical and regional aspects of tourism as an economic sector
- To examine policy documents and regulatory framework affecting the tourism sector
- To analyse the economic, social, and environmental aspects of the tourism sector in the regions of Latvia
- To develop tourism growth scenarios for regional development.
