The research focuses on enhancing the Latvian Agricultural Sector Analysis Model (LASAM) by continuously updating its data and algorithms. These updates will enable to update the projections of agricultural activity data, GHG emissions assessments, investment requirements, and socioeconomic impact calculations.
The new version of the model will incorporate advanced features, including a manure management system projection block and a pesticide use block. The model will be rewritten using the latest R library updates, and an interactive online homepage will be developed with R Shiny to provide user-friendly access to the model’s results.
The project’s outcomes will support policymaking by enabling detailed agricultural sector modeling and the assessment of GHG emission reduction measures, contributing to sustainable development and effective policy planning. The results will also be used for the national GHG inventory, emission projections, and the evaluation of potential impacts of various policy measures in the agricultural sector.
