Project description

The project focuses on addressing the ambitious greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction goals set by the European Green Deal and Latvia’s climate policies, particularly in agriculture and food production sectors. Achieving these goals requires precise, reliable, and understandable calculations of GHG emissions in agricultural sector for each producer's products.

To meet the increasing demand for such data from cooperatives, processors, traders, consumers, financial institutions, and other stakeholders, the project will develop an online tool for calculating farm-product-level GHG emissions. This tool will be specifically designed for use in Latvia’s dairy and grain farming sectors.

The system simplifies the complex process of emissions calculation, ensuring it is cost-effective and accessible to farmers. Furthermore, the tool aims to prevent unfair practices by promoting transparency and protecting the competitiveness of honest agricultural producers.
