Project description

This project provides a comprehensive, multidisciplinary assessment of the COVID pandemic's impact on the Latvian economy, delivering innovative, scientifically grounded policy recommendations. The LBTU led two critical work packages:

WP Structural Changes in the Economy: This study examines territorial aspects of structural changes in critical economic segments, classifies these changes for enterprises, and forecasts long-term trends. It also identifies priority measures for the government and local authorities to mitigate negative impacts and support recovery.

WP Restructuring Agricultural and Food Supply Chains: In partnership with the Horticulture Institute (LatHort), this study focuses on developing site-specific solutions to enhance the resilience of Latvian producers and supply chains in crisis and post-crisis conditions. The research aims to boost Latvia’s food self-sufficiency and prepare businesses for potential disruptions, ensuring adaptability in food systems.

The project offers actionable insights to strengthen economic and food system resilience in Latvia.
