Project description

The project aims to develop knowledge-based solutions and proposals for the sustainable use of land resources. It focuses on assessing land use efficiency, identifying driving forces, and creating methodological frameworks for landscape mapping and management.

The research will progress through several stages: defining conceptual and methodological frameworks, evaluating land resource management efficiency, and developing innovative approaches to landscape assessment and mapping. Additionally, the project will prepare guidelines and recommendations for sustainable land use and landscape management while disseminating findings to stakeholders.

The results will inform policy recommendations in land use, landscape policy, spatial planning, the Common Agricultural Policy, and environmental protection. Practical examples will be provided for industry professionals and researchers. Notably, the project will pioneer comprehensive alternative scenarios, dynamic models for efficient land use, and an interactive landscape atlas. These contributions will advance balanced land resource use and sustainable landscape management across Latvia.
