Project description

This research project focused on advancing the Latvian Agricultural Sector Analysis Model (LASAM) for forecasting sector development indicators, updating its data and algorithms, and developing a pilot project for emission assessment in crop production and meat farming based on farming approaches. The outcomes of this project are instrumental in policy development, enabling the modelling of agricultural sector trends under various policy scenarios and facilitating the creation of optimal development strategies.

LASAM integrates two key components: a socioeconomic impact evaluation block and a greenhouse gas (GHG) block. This dual approach allows for comprehensive assessment and forecasting of policy impacts on agricultural activities, employment, value-added, and output, as well as the sector's GHG emissions. The project included updating LASAM datasets, optimizing its data array and variables, and simplifying the data update processes.

Additionally, an application was developed to visualize results, ensuring practical utility for stakeholders and decision-makers.
